Drug Fraud:
Why Do Drug Companies Fear U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan?

Fortune Magazine, Oct. 27, 2003

Suzanne Durrell was prominently quoted in a recent Fortune magazine article by John Simons, entitled "Why Do Drug Companies Fear U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan?"

Summary of article: Of the 94 U.S. Attorney's offices, Massachusetts has become the Department of Justice's primary site for investigating and prosecuting pharmaceutical sales and marketing misconduct. Since 2000, the Federal government has recovered more than $ 1.2 billion in fines and legal settlements from drug company cases. As a result of these successful settlements, the U.S. Attorney from Massachusetts, Michael J. Sullivan, has become a feared man among drug company executives.

Ms. Durrell, former Chief, Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office in Boston, is quoted in this feature: She says of Sullivan, "He was personally offended by what the doctors and reps had done," " 'You've got to be kidding me,'" Durrell quoted Sullivan as saying in his Boston accent. " 'They actually did this?'"
